Locating Queer History - Matt Cook
Просмотров 7792 часа назад
Queer urban life has changed dramatically in England over the last seventy years. Shifts in the economy, culture, attitudes, and technology have all played their part in this. London has often been used as the barometer for these shifts, suggesting they were experienced in similar ways across the nation. In an exploration of the queer contours of Leeds, Manchester, Brighton and Plymouth, this l...
Refugees: English Law's Protection or Persecution? - Leslie Thomas KC

How are refugees protected in English law? This lecture traces the history of refugee protection, the limits of the Refugee Convention, and changes to the law in recent decades that have made refugees’ lives increasingly difficult. The Government’s latest tranche of policies: the Nationality and Borders Act 2022 and the Rwanda offshoring scheme, are particularly brutal. Is it time to reverse an...
The Geopolitical Risks of Climate Change - Myles Allen
Просмотров 11 тыс.12 часов назад
Climate Change is predicted to spark increasing threats to food security and demands for climate reparations, fuelling geopolitical instability. Probably the greatest risk of all, is tension over solar geo-engineering: the idea of reflecting away sunlight deliberately to modify global climate. Recognizing solar geo-engineering as an inherently destabilising technology, because any such programm...
Sustainable Energy in Refugee Camps - Dr Sarah Rosenberg-Jansen

Most of the world’s 102 million forcibly displaced people - refugees - lack access to reliable, affordable, sustainable energy. Attempts to provide such energy in refugee camps have been marred by governance challenges, and a lack of technical expertise within humanitarian organisations. But new research discussed in this lecture on the lived experience of refugees is helping cast a light on wa...

(The 'West' still argue about this point :)) I think we all agree that a certain state of peace and justice is strictly recommended, if we want to 'fight' (...what a dumb mode btw) climate change seriously successful. Anybody able to extract a tiny chance of peace from these graphs alone? "WASF"

I went for a test to see if I had autism and the test was aimed more at children. I’m 49 and had the test 3 years ago. The rest said that I didn’t tick enough of the boxes to say I was autistic but had some of the behaviour traits. I know there are more thorough tests for adults out there but costs thousands! I will have to live through live not knowing for sure. I have always felt people don’t like or care about me and are not interested in my art so I feel that I am autistic

After three stints in higher education, and watching hundreds of hours of academic content online, this man is the most gifted lecturer I've ever seen. He is also very kind. I suggested to one of my high school students that he email Professor Ryrie regarding a Salem Witch Trial project and Dr. Ryrie responded so quickly, with such thoughtful guidance, that my student was deeply touched and mentioned Ryrie's generosity several times that semester to our class. Anyone who can make a teenager feel that sort of gratitude is clearly special.

Again, as ever, it's all computer models and fortune-telling. This whole conference is talk of a collection of future hypotheticals as if they were already happening, which they are not. Furthermore, it prompts the comment that it is rather contradictory, even amusing, how nowadays one is not allowed to even have an opinion on climate unless one is an expert "climate scientist" and yet these climate nerds feel entitled to deliver sweeping statements on geopolitics, macroeconomics and social psychology.

The Argentinians simply didn't see the sea change in the global economy. Industrialize and technologize or die. They are now simply not able to catch up. And to go with it, there is constant capital flight as well as intellectual flight. The beneficiaries of both are the industrialized Western nations.

Like it or not, at some point, we will have to find alternatives to petroleum. Return on investment in drilling for petroleum has been decreasing for 50 years nd there is no reason to believe this will change. Remember, wood used to fuel locomotives, then it was coal, and diesel. Currently natural gas and nuclear are goingvto be growth industries and renewables when battery tech improves will contribute in remote areas.

The first Gresham lecture I disagree with. The temperature data for rural locations, which are not affected by heat island effect, are much lower than average temperature figures that are used by the alarmist crowd. One must also note that temperatures are higher in the Roman Warm Period and 1000 years ago than they are today. I also think that we need a buffer between the ice age CO2 counts and current values.

This is so annoying. This fluffy human perspective betrays a privileged upbringing bias of the observer. Humans in Western cultures today are the Labradoodle children of their wolf ancestor. Even group conflicts today inform us of the true animal we are in real world settings where othering, scarcity, fear of and propaganda are factors. Just as they would've been out entire history. You nearly hit the multi pronged nail on the head when you made recent colonial history references combined with at first accidental then intentional sickness spread. The lack of mass grave evidence is not convincing when you have the entire written history of humans to hold it up to. We're at the core a parochial, fearful and violent species and the watching of any politician today spin and obfuscate the atrocities occurring as we speak informs is that our enlightenment self delusion is only skin deep.

We produced grain and meat for England. That grain and meat was transported in English trains, manufactured in English or American companies (like Swift) and send to England on board of an English vessel. That's it.

    - We live in the same climate as it was 5 million years ago and the cancer will go away - I have an explanation regarding the cause of the climate change and global warming, it is the travel of the universe to the deep past since May 10, 2010. Each day starting May 10, 2010 takes us 1000 years to the past of the universe. Today May 16, 2024 the state of our universe is the same as it was 5 million and 120 thousand years ago. On october 13, 2026 the state of our universe will be at the point 6 million years in the past. On june 04, 2051 the state of our universe will be at the point 15 million years in the past. On june 28, 2092 the state of our universe will be at the point 30 million years in the past. On april 02, 2147 the state of our universe will be at the point 50 million years in the past. The result is that the universe is heading back to the point where it started and today we live in the same climate as it was 5 million years ago. Anyone who does not believe that the climate changed for the reason I mentioned should wait for cancer to disappear very soon because of this reverse movement, I will explain: the human body's immune system will be stimulated, activated and stronger as a result of this reverse process, which results in the disappearance of the cancer. Mohamed BOUHAMIDA, teacher of mathematics and a researcher in number theory.

As for the legal obligations, aside from them not meeting this due to my points above, it alao states in the articles that a country has the right to refuse asylum on grounds of national interest and security.

By volume, the dry air in Earth's atmosphere is about 78.08 percent nitrogen, 20.95 percent oxygen, and 0.93 percent argon, adding up to 99.96 percent. A brew of trace gases accounts for the other approximately 0.04 percent, including the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and ozone. To think that a small increase (200 parts per million in the last hundred years) of carbon dioxide would affect the weather is absurd.

  • @Tony-kq6py
    @Tony-kq6py 2 дня назад

Climate change has nothing to do with auto exhaust or emissions. There has been a substantial increase in seismic and volcanic activity over the last hundred years. This has increased the temperature of the land, sea, and air. The weather is most likely changing back to what it was 2,000 years ago. When the Romans were in Britain (40BC-380AD) they grew citrus fruit in the north. Look up "Roman Warm Period" and "Medieval Warm Period" online. It appears that there is a major change every 1,000 years and that is where we are today. Periodic change in the heat, light, and radiation created by the sun affects the earth both above and below and is the cause of the global warming we are experiencing.
